This sancerre is an example of classic winemaking from low yielding Sauvignon Blanc vines producing oppulent wines which show terroir. It is grown around the villages of Bue, Chadoux, Chavignol and Verdigny, from 35 year old vines. This dry white displays exotic summer fruits, white peach, pear and honey, and mineral influenced flavour reflective of the region`s destinctive soils. Delivering an elegant and well balanced taste of kiwi fruit and gooseberries it then leaps into a fresh and clean tang with a delicious zesty lime and stony finish.
The 2024 vintage of Sancerre Comte Lafonde displays aromatic notes of green apple, pear and subtle citrus, alongside crisp minerality typical of the region`s limestone terroir. On the palate, it reveals a balanced structure, characterised by a combination of vibrant acidity and a lingering finish. Domaine Comte Lafond, part of the larger Baron de Ladoucette estate, is known for its commitment to traditional practices and the careful selection of grapes sourced from the Sancerre appellation, aimed at showcasing the area’s unique characteristics.
